Stokesville - It is happening!!!

We haven't been blogging in a few years.... Oups!! Most likely because we have been sooooo busy getting this facility "STOKESVILLE"  up and running. It comprises the Stokesville Lodge, Stokesville Campground, Stokesville Observatory, a fishing lake, river swimming and a trail system that hosts a NICA High School League Mountain Bike Course right here on this property. It is the venue for the Shenandoah Mountain 100 (#Shenandoah100), Virginia Trail Festival. Shenandoah Mountain Bike Festival, Stokesville Orienteering Meet, Red Wing Roots Camping and many many other amazing events. In fact, we hope to release news of another amazing event at the facility very soon. #Stokesville - make plans to come ride, camp or stay at the Stokesville Lodge. Info is available via www.StokesivlleLodge.com - www.StokesvilleCampground.com and very soon on www.stokesville.org

Shenandoah Mountain 100 - Vintage 2000

An amazing blast back to the beginning of the clasic event that defined what an east coast epic needed to resemble.

Thanks so much Kevin Keane and Steele Bennett for working on this and making it happen. Rolling into #15 in this fine year of 2013. Come on out and lets do this again!!

Elliott's has a new option! It is scenic and super challenging

Cold Springs trail in the George Washington National Forest is clear. The Shenandoah Mountain Touring Center team has busted it out! A bit of tread work still to come.

Our SDS season is looking AWESOME!!! We have a few special tours of the Stokesville Douthat Stokesville 3 Day booked. IMBA is coming in to do a staff ride on the route. It should be pretty amazing. The ride starts just at the Harrisonburg IMBA Ride Center and rolls along two amazing IMBA Epic Trail Systems - The Southern Traverse and the Douthat State Park Trail System.

The Stokesville Lodge (pictured below) makes a great headquarters for the Stokesville Douthat Stokesville Tour - It is not included in all SDS tours!

Lookout Mountain - SVBC begins the trail realignment today with Trail Dynamics - thanks IMBA and USFS for the help.

It's going to be sooooo amazing to have a trail on the west side of Lookout Mountain (pictured below). The views up into the North River Watershed and into one of the largest roadless areas on the east coast are breathtaking. The natural terrain is INCREDIBLE- rock cliffs, huge school bus size slabs with great black bear and rattlesnake habitat.

Cheers to Harrisonburg's ever improving IMBA EPIC Ride Center Trail System!
