Iron Mountain Trail Work- Jefferson National Forest


This past Wednesday, SMT drove down to Damascus where they met up with David Witt, the brains behind the Iron Mountain 100k ride, to do some trail work in the Jefferson National Forest.  We placed in some grade dips and water diversions on Chestnut Ridge Trail to help preserve the trail and stop the water runoff from washing away all the good dirt.  We then cleared the trail of 7 downed-tree areas, so Chestnut Ridge Trail is now clear and ready to ROLL!!  Saw Mill Trail had some nasty culverts that we checked out to fix before the race.  Lastly, we went down Mock Hollow Trail, the final descent, and made sure that was ready.  Things are shaping up for this year's Iron Mountain 100k ride, you don't want to miss it!!  Check out the pictures from our trip:
